June artdump

This Eid I had more than plenty of time to draw during the holidays... did most of these on Sketchbook Pro cuz it's currently my fav Photoshop alternative (though not entirely, in terms of lineart & clipping mask I still prefer Medibang). Still a huge opportunity since usually my time's almost preoccupied with work & I'm often too tired to draw when I get back home.

That might or might not be wine, either way I'm still able to get drunk. That's why the snake's judging me. Also why is there even a snake wearing a collar in the garden? [X]

Here's a fanart for Fotoplace cuz I'm done using it after 1000 photos. I chose this style cuz it's not my usual one but I saw someone on Instagram with this style & tried drawing it. [X]

I redrew an old doodle by Myoo89 with us sitting, & added the night sky background based on a former colleague's drawing. Full post on this on my revamp blog. At first I thought how am I gonna highlight the trees without clipping mask in Sketchbook? Then I realized I could just add another layer, use a fuzzy brush to highlight, go back to the tree layer & select the blank space & delete the selection on the highlight layer.
The starry sky's done in Photoshop though.


Here's me touching Photoshop again after returning to school work. Trying to get that Sketchbook Pro touch while using Photoshop cuz tbh it can do anything.

My thoughts on fanfictions

The other day I was reading this article on austinkleon.com about stealing like an artist (which he'll turn into a book eventually) and thought about number 3 on the list; "Write the book you want to read" and as he further explained this he wrote about how he wrote a fanfiction about Jurassic Park after the 1st movie, and then comparing it to the sequel which he thought sucked. So if he advised all the artists & creative people out there to write the book they want to read, draw the comic they want to read, act the movie they want to watch, etc. then this explains A LOT about all the fanart, fanfiction & fanmade animation of a lot of fandoms in deviantART or any other art websites with twisted storylines come from... Not blaming the advice; that is in fact a REALLY good advice. Palette Change

Once again, a comic featuring my friends (even more of them this time) and another reason to waste my color pencils and some blue ink (which I managed, cuz I had to buy another blue ink cartridge for my pen halfway while doing this comic). I wanted to do a different story & concept this time, and seeing that my previous comics this year have certain color schemes with minimalized color palette, I wanted to fit several color schemes into one comic, and since that requires changes, the running gag would be the characters noticing the color change and constantly breaking the fourth wall, realizing that they're inside a comic. The inspiration that triggered this was Cookie Cat ice cream sandwich from Steven Universe [Episode 1: Gem Glow] buuuut the story for my comic turned out totally different instead. Plus I love ice-cream sandwiches and mint candies… also apples.
