More Scoop-inspired art

Related posts: Book Cover Designs 1st Scoop-inspired artworks BFFL Book Cover Designs After the second visit to Scoop to buy more things, I looked around at a few more of their cute stuff and indulge my eyes in them, hoping to spark more inspiration. Predictably, it happened and so I painted two pictures on my sketch block.   They don't really look as good in computers as they look in real life though. So why not digitize them? :D I swear, the second one, compared to the digitized final version, the traditionally painted version looked like a hot mess, especially the geometric shapes and lines.

BFFL book cover designs

Back. With more notebook designs (just like how I made notebook cover designs too precisely last year ). I'm still inspired by Scoop and all the notebook covers they sold in that store, so this time I'm trying to draw my characters from BFFL in a different style. This oughtta be fun. First, the lineart. And then I colored the patterns first with watercolor just to test out if the patterns would look nice as how I planned. I wanted to create that effect which makes it look like the drawings are cut-outs from different pieces of paper pasted on pre-painted surfaces. I love the texture but too bad I don’t have a scanner right now, so the writings look unclear.   And finally, I took back the lineart pieces and colored them digitally based on the watercolored ones. The result? Not bad. I   also fixed the writings (and a bit of the lineart) and made them pop. Although I still wished I put textures on the patterns but this is good enough. But this time, the chara...

It's almost 2014

So why not try a new art style for the new year? My family were buying stuff at Scoop to give to our friends and I was totally inspired by the artworks of the stuff sold there. There's a lot of stickers, notepads, diaries, drawing books, envelopes, color pencils and more. Practically recycled eco-friendly indie artsy stuff. Started with this one. Here's another version done in the color I feel matching with the other color. And there's this one. With newspapers instead (credits to the stock images in the deviantART description) Another book cover design. The pattern is probably overused already, but there’s a reason why. Also, alternating leaves with the same color as the stems just for fun. First I started with black and red cuz that's all the pens I have. Then, I did them in a few other versions. There's gonna be more and I'll be doing them throughout New Year.

Notebook + sleepiness = THESE.

High as f**k notebook doodles. (eheheh the writings here is done by a friend of mine. I was just doodling on the page) Cuz they always say notebook doodles are often better than actual drawings, and well, ideas suddenly comes flowing in when you're sleepy. So VOILA. p.s. I've enjoyed doodling on used paper quite a few times too, & they're all right here in my dA , labeled as Recycle Dumps.

Going D-I-Y & reusing unused materials.

I remember I used to have a fluffy pink diary book during grade school, & my friend had the same one & one day she tied a piece of string to the book's binder & carried it around like a handbag & I did the same... (one of the incidents that I got the nickname 'copycat' in school) And I've made plenty of notebooks too. Only that time I didn't know how to properly use a stapler & the paper I used were just some crumpled ones thrown inside the trash can. Now I've lost every single one of them & they might be thrown away a long time ago since they look basically like pieces of wasted trash anyway. A few years later in college, I got back to gathering scrap paper around (only good quality ones this time, hey, it's an art university & there's wasted paper everywhere in the uni's print shop & art studios) & made a sketchbook so that I don't have to buy new ones & save money. Pretty spiffy. And it...
